Breakfast

Many of our students arrive at school by bus and we recognise that the journey here can mean they are up early – maybe not that bright eyed and bushy tailed when leaving home! The school provides a Breakfast Club for all students in the canteen and whether they wish to have something to eat or chat in the warm they are welcomed from 8:15am onwards.

Break

Years 7,8 and 9 Library Club – Books for Brekkie, Tuesday break in the Library (starts Tuesday 19 September)

Spellbinding – Thursday break in the Library (starts at the end of January)

Lunchtimes

At Caldew we are always looking to provide activities for students to engage in at lunchtimes. All students are welcome to visit the Library, its computer suite as well as using the computers in the open access areas around the school.

In addition Drama, Sport, Music, Technology and other clubs run so that students can take part in activities they enjoy. They enable students to develop their interests with other students across year groups, membership is certainly not exclusive and all are welcome to join in.

For Orchestra, Rock Club and Choir, students should go to MR2 at 12.20pm and Mrs Cooper/Ms Brownlee will take students to lunch so that rehearsals can start at 12.35pm. For Drama clubs, please see Mrs Openshaw for an early lunch pass.

Details of GCSE and A level revision and support sessions are available on the Revision tab on the homepage.

After School / Extra Curricular

Caldew School offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities for our students and we encourage all of them to make the most of the opportunities available to them. Alongside the regular series of planned activities students take part in competitive sporting fixtures and school productions.

In cases where students find it difficult to get home we are able in certain circumstances to provide financial assistance for transport. Please contact the school if you would want to know more about this. The Games Bus will run from Tuesday 12 September until Tuesday 28 November inclusive and then from Tuesday 16 January until Tuesday 27 March inclusive. Please click here for more information.

All after school activities run from 3.30pm-4.30pm unless otherwise stated.

Year 12 and 13 students can use the multi-gym when it’s not in use but must attend an induction session with Mr Butler beforehand.

Details of GCSE and A level revision and support sessions are available on the Revision tab on the homepage.
