Caldew School Completes Major Sports Facilities Transformation Following Record-Breaking Year GCSE Results
Caldew School has unveiled a fully refurbished PE and sports facility following the completion of the second phase of a £10 million investment from the Story Group of Companies.
The transformation, completed during the summer holidays, marks another milestone in the school’s commitment to sporting excellence after a year of exceptional achievements at local, regional and national level.
Earlier this year, Caldew launched an enhanced performance sport programme featuring elite coaching, improved equipment and structured athlete development pathways. The latest investment has focused on creating facilities that match the ambition, talent and success of its students.
The refurbishment includes:
• Modernised girls’ and boys’ changing, shower and toilet facilities
• Brand-new flooring throughout the PE department
• Re-decoration and refurbishment of key areas
• A brighter, more welcoming environment for students and community users
The facilities are used not only by Caldew students but also by a wide range of local sports clubs and community groups, ensuring the benefits of the investment extend beyond the school gates.
Headteacher Vicki Jackson said:
“This investment has transformed the look and feel of our PE facilities. While the layout remains unchanged, the environment is now brighter, more modern and far more reflective of the high standards we set for our students.”
