Midday Supervisor

£12.85 – £13.05/hour (PCD3) Permanent, term-time only.
Midday Supervising staff work 38 weeks + 3 days/year
Actual Salary £6,632 – £6,736
We are looking for a Midday Supervisor to join our established catering team to start as soon as possible. Starting salary: £6,632.
Caldew is a well-established secondary school in the Dalston area of Carlisle. We have over a thousand students to whom we provide an outstanding in-house catering service. We are looking for an enthusiastic and friendly individual to join our team, preferably with experience of working in a busy food or educational environment but personalised training will be provided to ensure you have the tools to complete the role to a required standard.
At Caldew we have a small group of dedicated supervising midday staff who support behaviour standards in the dining area of school. The provision is supplemented by support from the existing teaching and support staff team to manage the wider lunchtime experience for students. We are looking to recruit a midday supervisor with a friendly and professional outlook to ensure that the experience of students is efficient and safe. This is a vital role in a fast-paced environment.

We are seeking to appoint an innovative, inclusive and enthusiastic leader to join us as Head of Year from September 2026. The successful candidate will be a committed and experienced teacher who is passionate about pastoral leadership and student success.
As Head of Year, you will be supportive, encouraging and highly visible, promoting positive behaviour, strong attendance and high academic achievement across the year group. You will take a leading role in championing your year group, inspiring students to achieve their full potential and fostering a strong sense of identity and belonging.
The role includes line management of the Pastoral Manager, requiring excellent organisational and communication skills. You will lead and motivate the pastoral team effectively, ensuring consistent, inclusive and high-quality pastoral support. Building strong, positive relationships with parents and carers will be central to the role, and you will work in close partnership with our parental community to support student progress and wellbeing.
An effective Head of Year will use data intelligently and strategically to identify trends, address barriers to learning including attendance and implement targeted interventions that drive improvement. You will build on established systems and strategies while also bringing fresh ideas and innovation to enhance pastoral provision and outcomes for all students.

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join our experienced and supportive Cover Supervisor team in our popular and vibrant school community.
Cover Supervisors play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning during short-term teacher absence by confidently supervising classes and supporting students to remain engaged with set work. The successful candidate will be an energetic, reliable and adaptable individual who enjoys working with young people and is committed to supporting their learning and wellbeing.
In addition to classroom supervision, the role includes supporting departments with the preparation of learning resources and contributing to wider school activities. The post also involves duties before and after school to ensure the safety and supervision of students.
We are committed to supporting staff development, and training will be tailored to the successful candidate, with a programme designed to meet individual needs and support professional growth.
